Looking for an accommodation here in Lahore is certainly very different from what I have learnt so far… yesterday we went on a little tour for Anne. She is an English volunteer living with me in the College, but needs to move out until Sunday due to the lack of rooms. That’s why we – according to Pakistani standards – started looking for something shortly before the time is getting quite urgent. One room is already found, but to have a little choice we went out in the afternoon again to look at some more places.
Our colleague, a funny man, did go with us.
So we ended up visiting all of his old friends or places that he was living at in former times, asking for a little room there. The first friend was quite angry, because he did not hear from him for about 6 months – at least this friendship can start all over again after exchanging the lost numbers…the next step on our route was a catholic place – a hostel was supposed to be there. The first question we have been asked was:
“Are you Christians? Are you seriously religious?” Mr. Jelani’s answer (our colleague) was that we of course just came out of the church! This place was made for nuns….
After some more quite interesting and nice places, we went home, deciding that the first room is the best catch. Besides, Iftar was coming soon so nobody would give us his attention, since shortly before that everyone is preparing for breaking his fast.
